Call for Papers

Ethiopian ICT Annual Conference 2014 (EICTAC 2014)

Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) is pleased to announce the 7th ICT Conference, which will be held in Addis Ababa, in parallel with the 7th ICT Exhibition, Bazaar and Conference. This conference will serve as a forum for the sharing of innovative ideas and good practices in ICT. It is also hoped that it will provide delegates with the opportunity to exchange knowledge, new ideas and research approaches.

Areas of Interest

The conference seeks papers in all aspects of Information and Communication Technology including but not limited to the following topics:

  • ICT for Agriculture
  • ICT for Health
  • ICT for Education
  • ICT for Micro and Small Enterprises
  • ICT for Socio Economic Development
  • ICT for Democratization and Good Governance
  • Information Security and Legal matters
  • E-Business
  • E-Government

Submission of Full Papers

Prospective authors are invited to submit full papers of not more than six pages in standard IEEE double-column format via the email address provided below. A peer review process will be used to evaluate all papers submitted. All papers accepted will be published in the conference proceedings.

Honorarium

A substantial honorarium fee will be given for all selected papers and top three papers will be awarded.

ICT Center of Excellence would like to inform 2013 ICT Competition 2nd round screening winners, that the Center has already accomplished necessary preparations to carry out as per time lined plan. Therefore all prospective 2nd round winners of 2013 ICT Competition are expected to get ready and respond to the ICT Center of Excellence, Our means of communications will be through Email and Telephone.

We are planning to have the 2013 – 3rd ICT Competition to be televised on the EBS TV Channel program.
This will provide the Competition a wide coverage and exposure to the competitors and their innovations/applications, and to the competition itself.
 


 
Training of October 8, 2013

For those of you who didn't attend the training. Here you can download and watch the training.

Here are some of the basic points mentioned on the orientation.

  • How the competition will continue: 
    • A template for your project documentation will be send. DONE!
    • Mentorship will be arranged.
    • Your document will be commented by Mentors.
    • You will submit your final document after considering the comments.
    • You will defense/present your project to judges.
      • Your document and your presentation will be considered in the evaluation process of this stage.
    • After your presentation 30 projects from General category and 20 projects from Women only Category will be selected to the next stage.
    • Then 6 projects from General category and 6 projects from Women only category will be selected (This will have a media coverage).
    • The evaluation will be done in two areas
      • Technical area: considering its technical capabilities
      • Business area: considering its demand from the market (Does your app have good number of target clients?)
    • 3 projects from General category and 3 projects from Women only category will be granted an award.

 

 
Update on 1-day Training of 2013 3rd ICT Competition Participants

We are posting this notice just to update you that The 1-day Training of the participants in the 2013 - 3rd ICT Competition is planned for:
Tuesday Oct 8, 2013 from 8:30am to 5:30pm.

The training and presenters will be located in Addis Ababa, and the participants in Addis Ababa and nearby areas will be receiving the training in the AAIT (Amst Kilo) Campus in the video conference room.

The training will be made available via video conferencing in the different Universities that are close to the competitors.

The universities that we are working to arrange video conference facilities with are: Bahir Dar University, Gondar University, Hawasa University, Adama University, Jimma University and  Mekelle University.


PLEASE NOTE:  This date is NOT fully confirmed yet! We are sending it out to give you as much advance notice as possible, with the assessment that this date i.e. Tuesday Oct 8th is the most likely date.

We are in the process of finalizing arrangements with the Universities in the different regions to have the training broadcast at the locations closer to many of the participants/competitors in this the 2013 - 3rd ICT Competition.

As soon as we have all the arrangements finalized and confirmed, a notice confirming the date of the 1-day training will be posted on the ICT CoE website.

The second round screening for the applicants for the 3rd ICT Competition organized by ICT Center of Excellence has been completed.
Email has been sent to all applicants whose application to the competition have been accepted and rejected.

To those who don’t make it to the next stage of the competition, the Center wants to express its sincere hope that they will apply next year and make it to the final screening.

To those who make it to the next stage of the competition, look for further instructions and information on the next steps of this competition in the coming week on this Website.

The first round screening for the applicants for the 3rd ICT Competition organized by ICT Center of Excellence has been completed.
Those applicants who did not make it to the second round are notified today via email.

The second and final round of screening is being conducted. Announcements on those whose applications to the competition have been accepted will be notified early Monday September 02, 2013 by email. The ones who did not pass this second and final screening will also be notified at the same time via email.

The center wants to extend its heartfelt and deep appreciation to all applicants who submitted their project ideas. To those who don’t make it to the final screening, the Center wants to express its sincere hope that they will apply next year and make it to the final screening.

At this time the Center wants to express its regret that this screening process has taken more than expected.
